Homeless. Hungry. Desperate.

Doe has no memories of who she is or where she comes from.

A notorious career criminal just released from prison, King is someone you don’t want to cross unless you’re prepared to pay him back in blood, sweat, pu$$y or a combination of all three.

King’s future hangs in the balance. Doe’s is written in her past. When they come crashing together, they will have to learn that sometimes in order to hold on, you have to first let go.

Warning: This book contains graphic violence, consensual and nonconsensual sex, drug use, abuse, and other taboo subjects and adult subject matter. Although originally slated to be a standalone, KING is now a two part series.

(synopsis taken from Goodreads)

This was the first book by T.M. Frazier I have ever read and I went into it a bit unsuspecting. I do feel the need to point out the warning listed in the summary, this book is not appropriate for young readers and deserves a mature audience. With that being said I was blown away by this book! I surprisingly really liked Doe. For a girl who wakes up with no memory she is astonishingly resilient. I couldn't imagine waking up in a hospital and not knowing a single person and then finding out that no one is looking for you. How heartbreaking that would be.

Doe's not a quitter though. And life on the streets is tough. She befriends a hooker named Nikki and together they devise a plan to put food in Doe's belly and get shelter over her head on a regular basis. Of course the obvious answer to solving these problems is to become a biker's girl. Doe and Nikki infiltrate a party and Doe makes it her mission to lure in a biker, because if she doesn't she knows she won't survive. I admire her tenacity, her will to live even though she's got nothing truly obvious to live for as she has no memory. But as Doe has no doubt learned things at the party don't necessary go as planned.

Enter King. The bad boy every girl secretly desires. He's delicious all tall, dark, and deadly. He's also a prick, big time! I liked King from the very start. Sure I don't usually go for or celebrate convicts but he just has that aura that leaves you wanting him. I also feel the need to mention that this book's cover is AMAZING!

King is an incredibly dark romance, it's not for those who want hearts and flowers. But it's so real, the characters, their feelings, the things that happen to them are not that hard to imagine happening to people in those situations. But it's so sexy and witty and alluring and it draws you into a world so different from most. T.M Frazier knows how to draw her readers in and keep them on the edges of their proverbial seats and I love her for it!

I would totally recommend this read for someone who is mature and looking for something more than hearts and flowers, and who enjoys an incredible cliffhanger because boy does T.M Frazier know how to leave her readers hanging!
