After a rocky start to their senior year, Trent is determined to hide from Cassie how their lives are supernaturally linked. But when Cassie’s past continues to torment her, she’s soon looking to Trent for answers. Trent must choose between admitting what he is and his role in her past, or running away from her forever.

If you had the power to change your fate, would you? Would you change the fate of someone you loved? Someone you felt could’ve lead a different, possibly much better, life if that one life-changing experience never occurred? Love is powerful, all-knowing, and eternal, right? In Rematch, the first book in The Vortex series, Janine Caldwell introduces us to a splay of characters that will hammer their way into your heart, who will make you consider things you never would’ve before.
Cassie Moore is a spectacular tennis player. But in one fateful moment, everything changes. Trent Astor is a time-traveler, a gift given to him due to a horrible circumstance but one he has come to realize as important. He is forced back in time, to random events of tragedy to save lives. Trent’s never failed, until someone he was supposed to save is shot. Thinking that he’s failed his duty, Trent, otherwise known as Jeremy, is completely taken aback to realize that his subject is indeed alive, but her life is different than it would’ve been…maybe.

I have to say, I was completely mind-blown by the journey Cassie and Trent/Jeremy take together. I was always on the edge of my seat, either laughing, anxious, or incredibly sad. It was such an amazing book, and it made me think on topics that I’ve never given much thought to. What happens when you feel you’ve somehow failed the one person you love the most? Would you change it, make things better for them? To be so self-sacrificing is beautiful to see, the whole goodness of the story makes me want to just hug everyone.

I feel the need to add Cassie and Trent/Jeremy are now officially on my list of favorite book couples. The world of high school they inhabit so reminded me of my own high school times, and I couldn’t help but smile at the fact that Cassie’s parents acted the way parents are supposed to. For once, we have caring parental figures, and it is totally refreshing! I loved the concern Cassie’s mother had for her, what mother shouldn’t be concerned when she thinks her teenaged daughter is head over heels in love?

Rematch really took me for a spin, it was my own personal “vortex”. It’s an enrapturing story, one that will make you feel everything the characters do. Janine Caldwell absolutely outdid herself in her debut novel. The world they live in, is incredibly real, the things they go through, are painfully realistic (both in a good and bad way). And best of all, love in this book, is eternal, forever, and true. Rematch will touch your heart, Janine Caldwell masterfully pulls you in and doesn’t let you go. I can tell you with upmost faith that Rematch will take your breath away!

DOUBLE FAULT is the 2nd book in The Vortex Series where Cassie and Trent’s problems have only just begun as they navigate through a parallel world rot with mind-blowing complexity. With Cassie’s tennis career hanging in the balance, she continues to watch her world crumble while fiercely hiding a secret that might cause her to lose what’s most dear to her heart.

In the second book in the Vortex series, Double Fault, we’re once more thrown into the world of Cassie and Trent. And this times, things are shifting and changing. Things are beginning to come together and make sense, and the characters are growing into who they will be. As all of us know, Rematch had a shocking ending and Double Fault picks right up where Rematch ended.

I was blown away by the twists and turns author Janine Caldwell put into her story. All the changes kept me entertained and enthralled the whole time. I love the characters, their quirky personalities, and of course the romance! Trent, I love you. He is just amazing, and constantly had me “awww-ing” through the whole book. I also enjoy Cassie herself, she’s in the critical period of getting her parents to realize their dreams and her dreams are two different things completely.

Many things occur in Double Fault and the drama is absolute perfection! It will leave you feeling extremely content with the way Trent and Cassie’s relationship ends up. It also leaves complete opening for a third book! Janine Caldwell has done a spectacular job creating a world that will pull readers in. The time-traveling, friendship, and romance in the Vortex series are magical and wondrous. I completely recommend this series for readers looking for your not average-run-of-the-mill story!

Since I’m relatively new to the publishing scene, I thought I’d let you know a little more about me and my books. I’ve alway been a literature fanatic and have a degree in English to prove it. But pesty jobs and paying bills got in the way of my creative time, so it wasn’t until my thirties before I really could sit down and write seriously. I tried my hand at screenwriting and loved it, but when I began to discover the world of young adult fiction, I knew I found my calling to write novels.

About six years ago, I was involved with a local youth group. We were studying Diary of a Teenage Girl by Melody Carlson. The girls in the group also introduced me to the Twilight series. They were pretty early to jump on the twi-hard bandwagon since Stephenie Meyer is practically our neighbor. I know YA fans have varying opinions on this series, but hate it or love it, she pushed me to get going on my own series. Something about her living only miles away from me was truly inspirational.

I’m first to admit I’m a sucker for fantasy and romance. I knew my books would have to incorporate these elements because that’s what I like to read. I’m also currently obsessed with the idea of alternate worlds. Like what would happen if you could change your life to what you think you want it to be. And then, finally, there’s Sedona. A place so unique and amazing, it’s hard to describe. Lucky for me I only live 45 minutes away from this special city.

Sedona is known for its vortexes. I mean, come on. Vortexes? Mysterious supernatural energy? This place was just begging to be the center of a fantasy series. So, The Vortex Series (Rematch and Double Fault with Deuce still to come), is the accumulation of all the above things. I really hope readers will enjoy reading them as much as I loved writing them.
