For P.J. Stone, being a “Seer” who has never seen anything is less than fun. And P.J. isn’t known for her patience.
To make matters worse, she must choose a suitable mate to continue the Seer bloodline. Duty always comes before her heart…at least that’s what her parents taught her. When she finds herself wanting someone who is considered off-limits, P.J. is forced to question everything she believes.
As if navigating her love life isn’t complicated enough, P.J. finally receives a vision—of a threat to her world that only she can perceive. But no one will believe a fledgling Seer’s warnings. With nowhere else to turn, she may decide to trust a stranger with her life, her world, and maybe even her heart.
It’s the world of Hidden Gates. A world where there are the
Regs, humans, and others. Others tasked with keeping dark things from slipping
through the gates and wreaking chaos. P.J Stone is a Seer, able to see things
that will come, or in some cases, have come. For the eighteen year old, life
seems pretty simplistic; her only worry at first being the fact that she has a
limited pool of possible ‘mates’ to choose from. But sometimes you find the
heart wants what it wants and what it wants is always acceptable.
Peej, as I love to refer to her as, is you semi-normal
eighteen year old girl just ready to graduate high school. She exists in a
community filled with gifted beings. As a Seer, she’s only able to be mated
with specific beings, and certainly not a Guardian. Enter Bryn, guardian, tall
dark and handsome and utterly delicious. He also happens to be Peej’s best
friend, and her future guardian (whoops!). A fascinating love affair begins,
and ends rather quickly as Peej’s world is flipped over, tossed around, and
kicked for good measure. I will also say that there is another love interest,
and though I usually hate those, Peej is a good girl, just trying to get by. Kohl
can pop into my bedroom any day, though ;).
There are so many twists and turns in this book I honestly
never knew what was going to happen next, so of course I devoured this book!
The unpredictable is definitely a major draw to this book. I also fell in love
with all the characters in the book, and even semi-liked P.J’s parents. D.T
Dyllin is a captivating author who will pull you into her world, a world where
darker things are able to sometimes, slip past these gates. A world where love
is more complicated, more involved, and more delicious than ever, where dragons
can exist, a world that will leave readers craving more.
Some awesome quotes from the book:
"Be careful, Peej." His voice was low and husky. "If you keep offering, I might just take it."
"There's never any danger of that. I'm yours. Always."
